Emotional, spiritual/subtle energy body, mental, and physical. In order to progress, we need all four of these to be as healthy as possible. Sometimes our mind is comprised mostly of our ego, but sometimes our mind is dominated by thoughts separate from our own sense of "identity". I think the mind is just one of the components of a soul. When you improve one aspect of your different bodies, you have to elevate all those other parts of you to the same level in order to achieve lasting results. For example, if you want to lose weight, you exercise (physical), you make better lifestyle decisions (mental), you have to subconsciously sort out and heal how you feel about yourself in order to actually get to wanting to lose weight (emotional), and maybe the spiritual aspect relates back to seeing your body as an actual temple and gift that doesn't just belong to you, but God as well (spiritual). The spiritual aspect is not mental because it is felt with an irrational knowingness of the unity concept. All of your bodies are interrelated and affect one another. Spirit into matter and matter into spirit.
So the mind really, is just one aspect of you so that you can function in this particular reality. I'm certain their are realities or levels of existence where you as a soul have no need for it. So maybe the mind is "refined and erased" each time you are reborn. and "refined" once again when you die/ are born into the other dimensions. I think there are energetic alchemical processes related to it which I have no knowledge of. I'm sure it involves toroids somehow.
